Wow, this is a big interview for me! thanks to Subvert for taking the time to have a little chat
1. if you were to sum up your style in a few words, what would they be?
Hippy trance……wait that’s not it……..……BASS MUSIC :)
2, most fun gig you've played.
Shambhala Music Festval – one of the best festivals on the planet, but I might be biased :)
3. how long have you been producing and djing?
I’ve been Djing for 10 years and producing for 5………I started djing by playing my roommates 2step records @ 33rpm Glitch hop 10 years ago ya ya! lol
4. who influences you the most to make music?
The people I get to play for (the crowd) I’m always most inspired to make music after an awesome show with crazy fans!
5. if you could see any group or artist, dead or alive... Who would it be?
Pink Floyd (maybe a little cliché….but seriously probably the best stage shows of all time)
6. out of all the cities you've played, which one had the craziest fans?
Hmmmm that’s a hard one there’s many awesome cities….probably Victoria….the whole crowd was chanting PK at the end of my set, some dude tried to get me to sleep with his girlfriend….ummm LOL to funny!
7. top 5 bangers to play...
Hmmmmmm honestly it changes pretty often. Gotta say Excision & Downlink are killing it, Ben Samples is definitely up and coming, keep an eye on Torqux & Twist :)
8. what's next for Subvert???
Besides world domination though insanely huge sound systems?? (That’s a shamless PK Sound plug right there =p)
I’ve got 2 releases coming up on Rottun recordings late this year. 2 tracks by moi tracks Everything & Ketamine Karate, then another vinyl/digital 2 track release with Excision.
Working on an EP for release in the spring with a bunch of collabs and such with some awesome artists.
Oh and I just got signed to Circle Management, pretty excited to join that team :)
