- THE BASS BIZARRE GIG REVIEW -

One Feb 24th The Bass Bizzare hit Sydney with a bass-gasmic bang. Any DJ worth their salt was waiting around like Christmas morning for the dream team that is Qbert and Reeps One. Introduced by a line of local bass junkies, by the time the main event hit the stage Chinese Laundry was on spin cycle, and for the first 30 minutes the crowd was treated to a battle that left everyone gagging for more. Following on, both Qbert and Reeps One showcased their skills separately, proving without questions that they deserved to be at the top of their respective games. The show barely took a break and the crowd was worked up into a frothy mess by the end. Qbert brought his usual INSANE scratch routine plus a few extra tricks--playing the bongos with a single sample on a record was definitely a highlight.

The other 3 support acts brought their A games, as is to be expected with a legend in the house. The night started with Hip Hop, Glitch Hop and Dubstep with Sydney locals Blog Wars. Then came Typhonic--who incidentally is the NSW Redbull Thre3Style champ--and he ripped up an awesome set with everything from old school breaks to some sick Hip Hop to a bit of Bass Music. After the Bass Bizzare came Asylum to finish the night, These boys played an awesome Bass set with their usual unreal scratch routine.

As a whole it was an unforgettable night, absolutely PACKED with Bass Bizarre fans--the craziest (and best) kind.
