Manpanics (aka Jay Brock) is a Welsh producer who has been perfecting his unique and undefinable style for almost 10 years. Like most other electronic producers out there he started off in his basement with a computer and a midi keyboard. He has dabbled in so many different styles of music that genre is a secondary consideration. Its just whatever tempo, groove and flow he feels at the time.
I met Manpanics at an Audio Engineering school in Sydney, and after spending some time with him I discovered just how much he loves to chill and produce in his little studio. After he showed me some of the tracks from one of his albums "The Great Game." I was totally hooked and wanted to pick his brain as much as possible. Manpanics is the only producer I've ever met who can actually conduct a mini orchestra from his computer. This guy is one to watch. If you like originality, creative flair and a healthy disregard for putting himself in a box, you'll be hooked once you get a taste.
He is still producing at his own pace and if you keep an eye on his myspace a new track pops up every month or so, and its always FRESH...
