Here's one of the best Australian Bass Music crews out there at the moment. Kurk Kokane, Pop The Hatch and Creeptown are coming up fast! they just released their first EP which went to the top 50 on beatport and now they appear to be climbing the ladder to the top of the game.
Here's a little chat with KPC!
------------------
1. So, Pop The Hatch and Creeptown are from Sydney but Kurk Kokane is from Melbourne. How are you guys doing your colabs and how often do you get to do a full show as KPC
When we collaborate, Kurk Kokane fly's up from Melbourne and we work between Creeptown and Pop The Hatch's studios. We usually spend a couple of weeks together and it is always hardcore studio time. It gives us a great opportunity to develop new sounds and fresh ideas for our tunes. We try to work on the core concepts of our tunes whilst were together and any fine tuning is done at Creeptown or Pop The Hatch's studios. Afterwards we exchange projects through the net until we are all happy with the finished product.
Currently we are happy to do individual shows or back 2 back performances to represent KPC, but if a promoter wants to book a full KPC show they do whats necessary to make it happen. We are planning to tour Australia for the launch of out next E.P starting in Brisbane in September.
2. You've just had your first EP release sitting in the top 50 charts of Beatport's Dubstep and D&B, was this to be expected or were you guys surprised?

We never really knew how the tracks would chart & go down with the general public, but we are defiantly very happy with the result. We tried to approach dubstep from a difference angle and feel a lot of the tunes are very experimental, especially for our first E.P. It was defiantly a learning curve for us.
3. I've noticed that while you do your live sets, Jerry(Pop The Hatch) is on Serato and Dean(Creeptown) is using CD's. Is this the usual dj set up for you guys?
We like to keep it fresh and action packed when we mix, we switch it up between cds, vinyl or ableton.
4. Where do you guys see the Dubstep scene in Sydney heading over the next 3 years?
We see it growing at an explosive rate, we see a lot of new promoters stepping it
up and bringing out some big internationals which is defiantly helping to put our
local talent on the map. Yet it is crucial for the promoters within the scene to work
together to build a good foundation.
People like Tey Evans & Byron Von Rotten at All City Bass in Melbourne, Gilsun &
Disptemper from the low society crew here in Sydney and James Wise from the
Dubthugs crew in Brisbane are running some amazing nights filling venues and
supporting local artists.
5. When you guys are writing your tunes, what programs and pluggins are you using?

8. I hear you guys playing Hard Styles these day... could dubstep and Hard Styles be coming together for KPC?
We froth on all heavy bass music, we enjoy mixing hard styles in our sets to keep
our sets unpredictable and to bring the intensity. We feel positive that the crowd
appreciates hearing an array of bass heavy genres.
