These guys are on top of the Dubstep scene world wide with several of the heaviest tracks coming out of Ultragore Recordings. Here's a short interview with the guys from Helicopter Showdown!
---------------------------
1. So there are four of you involved with Helicopter Showdown... How did you guys hook up?
Three of us are from the same part of the North Bay and we met out fourth member at Guitar Center.
2. Your music seems to be on a whole new level of GRIME! Did you guys all have an appreciation of this stuff or have you slowly been getting into it as the scene has developed?
From the beginning we have always been attracted to filthy aspects of dubstep but we appreciate the melodic aspects just as much. We all come from strong Hip Hop, Metal, and Jazz backgrounds.
3. When you perform, are all four of you behind the decks at the same time or do you have another arrangement?
At the moment, yes, we tag team the decks, but we are currently developing a secret weapon of bass destruction for live shows.
4. Tell us a bit about your software... what programs and plug-ins are you using?
DAWs we use: Ableton and Reason VSTs: MASSIVE
5. Being from San Francisco, how would you compare the local bass music scene to others around the world?
We are very fortunate to be from a very diverse music scene. There are as many purists as there are filth heads and burners in the Bay Area. However, no matter what the venue or sub genre the Bay always comes out and heavily supports their own scene. SF is always a must on most big Artists tour dates as well so we are constantly blessed with the array of talent from world bass music culture.
6. This is a question for all of you... Which artist/musician dead or alive from any period in history would you give anything to see live?
Blake - Black Dahlia Murder
Ryan - Haul n Oats
Devan - Michael Jackson
Josh - Daft Punk
7. Best show you've done...
Hard to say, probably sold out Ultragore showcase in Baltimore with Sluggo n Smash Gordon
8. How did you come up with your name?
DMT...
9. Top 5 tracks to play...
The Wrestler, Holy Ghost, Whistle Tips VIP, Hostage, The Right Time
10, And finally, whats next for Helicopter Showdown???
Were currently playing out across America and grinding bones in the studio on a huge amount of original work on the table, as well as collabs with the likes of Calvertron, Messinian, Boy Kid Cloud, Mark Instincts and more.
